We held a very successful ROMAC evening, with 87 people attending and representing 13
Rotary Clubs plus other guests. Over $10,000 was raised.
The night was also to honour the work of guest speaker, Associate Professor, Andrew
Cochrane, AM, who has done so much for ROMAC over many years.
Thanks to those members who assisted before and during the evening.
Associate Professor Andrew Cochrane, AM is a cardiac surgeon with over 15 years of
consultant experience in both adult and paediatric cardiac surgery. He has been a
surgeon at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton since 2003, including performing numerous
operations for ROMAC patients, including two young East Timorese girls Natalia Bossa and Jesuina da Costa, whom ou Club had hosted in 2003 and 2015 respectively.
His commitment to serving the less fortunate throughout the world and his pro bono work is inspiring. He travels annually to places such as Dili in Timor Leste to treat those with heartrelated illnesses – usually young people who are too poor to afford healthcare.
